It's incredible how many new clients come to us without any intel on how their existing website is performing. Most clients have Google Analytics setup to track web traffic, but they don't know how to access it or interpret the data, and in some cases they have never even looked at it!
Your website is not static marketing tool that can be left to fend for itself once established, nor should you assume that because you've used the same web framework and template as 'Joe Bloggs' down the road, that your website will be a success. What's 'good for the goose, is not always good for the gander'.
A new web project should always start with an analysis of the existing website's traffic data, or if the project is a startup, research into the online behaviour of the target audience. Armed with this information, the website can be tailored to provide the best user experience for the target audience.
This data-driven approach should not cease once the project is completed. Traffic and user behaviour should be reviewed regularly so changes can be made to improve conversion rates, and to enhance search engine optimisation.
So, to streamline access to this data, we've integrated key reporting tools from Google Analytics, directly into the Genesis Dashboard. Added to which, we've also built in 'At a Glance' eCommerce reporting, and Genesis Click Tracking, which negates the need to integrate, or setup complicated tracking tools within Google Analytics.
